Police identify driver accused of striking, killing man on lawnmower in Nacogdoches

Tyrone Rausaw of Nacogdoches, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, while the driver was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries

NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Police have identified the man who is accused of striking and killing a man with a vehicle Monday afternoon in Nacogdoches. 

According to the Nacogdoches Police Department, the crash happened in the 100 block of NE Stallings Drive. Ricardo Venegas Jr, 21, was driving northbound in the 100 block of N.E. Stallings Drive when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle left the roadway and hit a man who was mowing grass. 

The man, identified as Tyrone Rausaw, 62, of Nacogdoches, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, while Venegas was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. Venegas is cooperating with investigators, police said. 

The investigation is ongoing.
