GREGG COUNTY, Texas — One person is dead after an 18-wheeler rear-ended another on Interstate 20 in Gregg County.

According to the Texas Department of Transportation, the wreck occurred at mile marker 583, just south of Liberty City, in the westbound lanes.

Sabine Fire and Rescue Chief Richard Sisk said one 18-wheeler rear-ended another. The driver of the vehicle that rear-ended the 18-wheeler passed away.

Sisk said that 18-wheeler later caught fire. He said the Texas Department of Public Safety troopers, the Gregg County Sheriff's Office and the Sabine Fire and Rescue are on diverting traffic.

Traffic is moving but it's slow at this time, Sisk said.

TxDOT says all westbound lanes are closed at this time and traffic is being diverted to SH 135. Drivers should expect significant delays in the area.

Details concerning injuries are unknown, but CBS19 will update this article as more information becomes available.
