Longview police arrest man accused of driving while intoxicated, killing pedestrian

Police said Lantz Darensbourg was driving west on West Hope Drive when he left the roadway and struck both a pedestrian and a vehicle.

LONGVIEW, Texas — A Longview man accused of driving intoxicated and killing a pedestrian was arrested Saturday afternoon. 

Lantz Darensbourg, 46, is charged with intoxication manslaughter in connection with the death of a pedestrian Saturday just before 1 p.m. in the 500 block of West Hope Drive, according to the Longview Police Department. 

Police said Darensbourg was driving west on West Hope Drive when he left the roadway and struck both a pedestrian and a vehicle. The pedestrian was taken to a local hospital and later died.

Officers determined Darensbourg was driving while intoxicated, and he was booked into the Gregg County Jail on an intoxication manslaughter charge.
