Man arrested for burglary of a store in Palestine

Palestine police said officers arrested a man who "got tired of waiting for the business to open" and took some ice cream from the Family Dollar.

PALESTINE, Texas — A 25-year-old man was arrested after he allegedly broke into a Family Dollar in Palestine on Wednesday.

On March 6, officers responded to Family Dollar on Spring Street in reference to a burglary of the building.

Officials said officers observed broken glass from forcible entry through the door and cleared the building and determined the offender left through the back door.

Rhett Kilgore, of Buffalo, had cut on his right ankle and was eating an ice cream that appeared to have the same wrapper as the ice cream sold at Family Dollar.

When asked about the burglary, Kilgore said, "I got tired of waiting for the business to open."

Kilgore was transported to Anderson County Jail, where he was booked for burglary of a building charge.
