SAN AUGUSTINE, Texas — The San Augustine County Sheriff's Office says a murder suspect who was on the run has been arrested.
According to the SACSO, Kenavion Marquise Baker, 26, of Shreveport, LA, was arrested and will be extradited back to Louisiana for murder.
On July 5, SACSO began an investigation at a crime scene connected to Baker.
Shreveport Police Department notified the surrounding areas of Baker and his involvement in an aggravated kidnapping with a victim in a dark Toyota that was stolen.
Shreveport PD also notified that the victim was possibly deceased due to evidence police found at the crime scene.
Sabine County Sheriffs Office notified SACSO at around 8 p.m. of a vehicle that crossed into Texas from Louisiana. Sabine officers tried to stop the vehicle but the driver increased the speed and drove into San Augustine County.
SAPD were able to stop the vehicle that was driving over 118 mph. Baker then left the vehicle and ran on foot.
Officials said in the trunk of the vehicle they found the deceased victim.
Multiple law enforcement agencies searched for Baker including the Texas Rangers, Nacogdoches County SO, Lufkin PD, Desoto Parish, Shreveport PD, TDC, San Augustine PD, SO and DPS.
At around 5 a.m., the search was discontinued with no additional leads on Bakers location. At around 7 a.m., San Augustine residents saw a man that fit Bakers description and officers were able to arrest Baker without any further incidents.
Currently, Baker is in the San Augustine County Jail and is waiting to be returned to Louisiana.
