'Remarkable recovery' | SPCA of East Texas helps dog who suffered abuse, malnourishment find new life in loving home

However, after two to three months of receiving care from the animal rescue, Lindy was a brand-new dog.

TYLER, Texas — The SPCA of East Texas successfully matches hundreds of animals with new families each year, but one of their former pups has a success story like no other.

Lindy, a 3-year-old Lab-Pitbull mix, was adopted by the Goodman family.

Owner Kris Goodman said her family has always adopted, and while they were at the SPCA of East Texas to adopt another dog, they were pleasantly surprised when they saw Lindy.

"Out come all these dogs running, and one of them is Lindy. And I didn’t know who she was because she looked so different from the way she did in the media posts, but one of the SPCA gals said Lindy come here, and I was like, 'Lindy? That’s Lindy?' I couldn’t believe it she looked so amazing she was running, she was beautiful and the transformation was just stunning," Goodman said. "I hadn’t seen an update and I had no idea she had come so far."

The transformation Goodman is referring to is how the SPCA of East Texas discovered Lindy. She was malnourished, had no fur, and suffered from abuse.

However, after two to three months of receiving care from the animal rescue, Lindy was a brand-new dog.

"With their amazing team and their amazing care, the transformation was amazing. You would not have known it was the same dog. By the time we adopted her, she looked phenomenal. And the team, with their hard work and hours of dedication that they had to get her to that point, and they didn’t give up on her, it was amazing," Goodman said.

While Lindy has made a big impact on the Goodman family's lives, they have also changed hers.

Lindy loves her family and her playmate Snickers, who was also adopted from the SPCA of East Texas.

Since Goodman had a great experience adopting, she wouldn't hesitate to go back to them again because of how much they care about their work.

"When dogs and cats are getting adopted out, make sure it's the right fit for your family. And they really do a great job at that at SPCA," Goodman said.
