TYLER — The tensions over Robert E. Lee have spilled into the Tyler Independent School district.
It all started with two petitions last August, following those deadly clashes in Charlottesville, Virginia.
The first, a push to make sure the confederate war general’s name was preserved.
That was followed by a petition to get rid of the man who many associate with one of the darkest time in our nation’s history.
Months later, the debate over changing the name of Robert E. Lee and John Tyler High Schools shows no signs of ending any time school.
CBS19 joined the conversation holding a forum to give people a platform to express how they feel.
