Tatum football player D.J. Horton 'improving steadily, hoping to go home soon'

D.J. Horton, the Tatum football player inured during a scrimmage, is recovering well and hoping to go home soon.

According to D.J. Horton's family, D.J. is improving steadily and is ready to go home.

The message was posted on the Tatum Athletic Booster Club Facebook page. The message gave positive news and said that D.J. has 'expressed his gratitude for the outpouring of love and concern from everyone.'

D.J. Horton, a 15-year-old junior cornerback, had surgery Saturday evening after suffering fractures in his neck. Horton received five permanent screws in his neck. He will be in a neck brace for the neck 12 weeks.
