Buc-ee's selling 'Hodwy' shirts after viral typo

The iconic Texas gas station chain said hodwy is actually the "southern way to blend the words 'how did we' in order to talk qwicker."

TEXAS, USA — No, the "Hodwy" billboard was not a typo, at least according to Buc-ee's.

The iconic Texas gas station chain said hodwy is actually the "southern way to blend the words 'how did we' in order to talk qwicker." They said it's frequently mistaken for the misspelling of howdy.

We're not convinced the billboard in question wasn't a typo even with the new definition, since it read, "You had me at hodwy."

That's not stopping Buc-ee's from capitalizing off the typo as they've already started selling shirts with the definition.

The bungled billboard didn't seem to hamper the chain's growth. Later this month, Buc-ee's is set to break ground on a new 74,000-square-foot gas station in Amarillo off of I-40. The new gas station will feature 108 fueling points and 24 electric vehicle charging spots.

The chain has 46 stores located throughout Texas and the South, including in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, South Carolina and Tennessee. Expansions are planned for Colorado and Missouri.
