Tornado spotted in McLennan County

Tornado Reported Today Near Crawford Just West of Waco

CRAWFORD — We saw some severe weather in Texas today as a cold front made its way through Central Texas.

Most of Texas was under a Marginal to Slight Severe Thunderstorm Risk, that was issued by the National Weather Service earlier today. With severe weather there is always threats of flooding, damaging winds, hail, and tornados.

Just west of Waco there was a reported tornado. A tornado warning was issued at 8:25 a.m. for Northwestern Mclennan and Southeastern Bosque Counties that was in effect until 8:45 a.m. At 8:25 a.m. the National Weather Service issued a warning because of radar indicated rotation.

By 8:26 a.m. there was a report by an emergency manager that there was a tornado on the ground crossing Highway 317 just North of Crawford.

The tornado producing thunderstorm was moving north at 25 miles per hour. The storm also brought heavy rain along with it. The National Weather Service will send out a storm survey team to identify the EF scale of the tornado.

As of Tuesday night, the National Weather Service has some of southeast Texas under a marginal risk for severe thunderstorms. We will continue to monitor these storms throughout the night.
