Trinity County resident arrested in connection with Dallas-area homicide

Rowlett police officers learned through the investigation that the suspect lived in the Westwood Shores neighborhood in Trinity County.

TRINITY COUNTY, Texas — A Trinity County resident was arrested in connection with a Dallas-area homicide that happened at the beginning of June.

In a letter to Trinity County Sheriff Woody Wallace, Rowlett Police Department Sgt. Chris Sawyer said Rowlett police officers were called to a reported homicide on June 3. They learned through the investigation that the suspect lived in the Westwood Shores neighborhood in Trinity County.

Information showed the suspect returned to the residence after the alleged offense. Sawyer said he contacted Sgt. Aaron Tullar with the Trinity County Sheriff's Office and deputies helped in maintaining surveillance on the home throughout the night and into the next day.

Deputies spotted the suspect leaving his residence and they were able to take him into custody. TCSO deputies were also able to locate what police believe to be the murder weapon in the backseat of the suspect's vehicle.

Sawyer thanked Wallace and his team of deputies for the TCSO's help in getting the suspect arrested.

"I could not ask for a better group of people to work with on a daily basis," Wallace said. "From dispatchers, jailers, clerical personnel, patrol deputies, investigators, supervisors to the administrative positions, I am grateful."
