Boebert agrees to pay Trump cut of fundraising revenue for using his name, picture in ads

A memo obtained by NBC News asks Republicans using his name or image to donate at least 5% of their fundraising proceeds to his fundraising committee.

DENVER — Donald Trump's presidential campaign wants a cut of fundraising revenue from other Republicans who use his name or picture in their ads.

A memo first reported by Politico and later obtained by NBC News outlined the request for a cut of other Republicans' fundraising.

According to NBC, the memo from Trump's co-campaign managers, Susie Wiles and Chris LaCivita, asked for "a minimum of 5%" and that more than that "will be seen favorably."

Trump has endorsed Republican Congresswoman Lauren Boebert and Colorado GOP chair Dave Williams, who is running for Congress.

A spokesman for Lauren Boebert's campaign said they'll pay Trump his cut. She holds an enormous fundraising advantage in her Republican primary.

Williams is struggling to raise money. His campaign did not respond to questions about whether he would pay the Trump tithe.

The memo, NBC said, includes additional guidelines, including prohibitions on:

  • "Speaking on behalf of President Trump"
  • "Questioning the readers' support of President Trump or tying their support to a financial contribution"
  • "Creating new memberships, clubs or rewards that are not authorized by the campaign"
  • "Impersonating President Trump or his campaign"
