U.S. Rep. Nathaniel Moran gives update on congressional happenings

He also said he recognizes there needs to be immigration reform to alleviate border crossings and help with the workforce.

LONGVIEW, Texas — U.S. Rep. Nathaniel Moran stopped by Longview Monday to meet with constituents and share an update of what he's been focusing on in Washington D.C.

In his update, he spoke about why he voted against the Further Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2024. He said the act does not include enough border security to outweigh the aspects of the bill that did not align with East Texas priorities. During his speech Monday, he explained what he feels the federal government should do to curb the crossings at the border.

“What I want to do is stop the influx, and then when we stop that then we can deal with part two of what we do with people who have come here illegally,” Moran said. “And how do we do that in such a way that is humane and efficient and effective – but we’ve got to stop it first.”

He also said he recognizes there needs to be immigration reform to alleviate border crossings and help with the workforce.
