UT Health East Texas restores MyChart access for patients following ransomware attack

Currently, all the hospital locations have resumed their non-emergent surgeries that were halted since the network outage.

TYLER, Texas — UT Health East Texas has restored its access for patients through its patient portal, MyChart, on Thursday morning following a recent ransomware attack.

Effective on Thursday, patients can utilize their MyChart to, "schedule or reschedule appointments, message providers, view medications and request prescription refills, access e-check in, view test results and visit summaries, and pay bills," according to the press release.

Due to security reasons, MyChart users will be asked to reset their passwords. 

Ardent Health Services is continuing to make progress following the recent ransomware attack that led the UT Health East Texas hospital network to go offline.

Currently, all the hospital locations have resumed their non-emergent surgeries that were halted since the network outage.

While this investigation is ongoing, it will take time to determine if any protected patients' information was involved in the ransomware attack. 

"We sincerely regret the frustration this incident has caused many patients," Ardent Health Services said.
