Nacogdoches police identify 2 women killed in shooting

Officers responded to a welfare check and found two women dead at the home with gunshot wounds.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Police have identify two women who were killed in a shooting over the weekend in Nacogdoches.

According to the Nacogdoches Police Department, just after 4 p.m. on Saturday, officers responded to a welfare check in the 100 block of S. Stone St. 

When police arrived on the scene, they found two women dead at the home with gunshot wounds. 

NPD identified the two victims as Laura Sanford, 73, and Laquice Sanford, 48, both from Nacogdoches.

The NPD says the investigation is ongoing and more information will be released once it's made available.
