TYLER, Texas — Edith Wilson is the Democratic nominee for the Smith County Pct. 3 commissioner seat following Tuesday's election results.
Wilson won the majority vote against Dave Hansen and will face the Republican primary winner in November.
Longtime Republican incumbent Terry Phillips has held the seat since 2009. Precinct 3 covers the entire northern half of Smith County, which includes cities Lindale, Winona, a portion of Overton and Tyler and Hideaway. It is the largest of the four Smith County commissioner precincts.
This year's Republican race included Phillips, former Winona Mayor Rusty Smith and Cut Beef owner J. Scott Herod.
