RUSK COUNTY, Texas — The Rusk County Electric Cooperative is warning of a scam targeting customers.
According to the RCEC, customers received calls on Tuesday saying their electric bill was past due and must be paid within 30 minutes or they would be disconnected.
The RCEC says this is a scam and is advising customers to hang up immediately.
The RCEC makes courtesy calls when a customer's account is past due, but say they will never ask a customer for personal information or to make a payment by phone.
