LUFKIN, Texas — A Texas man wanted on federal warrants for possession of child pornography and sexual exploitation of a child has been arrested in Lufkin.
According to the Lufkin Police Department, around 6 a.m. on Tuesday, an officer conducted a traffic stop after he noticed a vehicle traveling without headlights near the Garden of Memories Memorial Park on US 59 South.
Police say the man initially identified himself as "Adam Sowell" and claimed he left his license at a gas station by accident.
After dispatch was unable to locate any information on an "Adam Sowell," the officer further questioned the man about his identity. The man then told the officer his wished to speak with his lawyer on the phone and asked to be taken into custody.
According to police, they then learned the man's name was actually Robert Shouse, 31, of Richmond. Shouse was wanted on federal warrants for possession of child pornography and sexual exploitation of a child.
The charges stem from a January 22, search warrant on Shouse's home, according to the FBI.
Shouse was taken into custody and remains in the Angelina County Jail.
He is also charged with failure to identify a fugitive.
