Cherokee County man wanted for aggravated kidnapping arrested after being at-large since early April

He has been charged with aggravated kidnapping, interfering with an emergency request for assistance and assault causing bodily injury to a family member. His bond has been set at $210,000.

CHEROKEE COUNTY, Texas — A Cherokee County man wanted for aggravated kidnapping has been arrested in Smith County after more than a month on the run.

According to Smith County judicial records, Bryan Heath Cannon, 33, of Jacksonville, was arrested on Tuesday by the U.S. Marshal's Service. He has been charged with aggravated kidnapping, interfering with an emergency request for assistance and assault causing bodily injury to a family member. His bond has been set at $210,000.

On Tuesday, April 2, 2019, the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office received information that Cannon allegedly forced a woman he knew at gunpoint to leave her home and travel with him to another area.

The woman was able to get away from Cannon and contact authorities. By the time officials arrived at the scene, Cannon had run away.

The Texas Department of Criminal Justice K-9 unit searched for approximately hours hours, before losing track of Cannon near U.S. Highway 69 in Mount Selman.

The sheriff's office said Cannon was armed and dangerous, and should not be approached, prior to his arrest.
