SMITH COUNTY, Texas — A 7-year-old is dead and three others are injured following a wreck in Smith County on Sunday morning.
According to the preliminary investigation, an 18-year-old was heading west on State Highway 64 driving in the westbound lane carrying a 7-year-old and 12-year-old passenger in the vehicle.
Nathaniel O. Jimenez, 25, of Tyler was traveling eastbound on State Highway 64 West before being struck by the 18-year-old's vehicle after failing to yield the right of way.
As a result of the crash, the 7-year-old passenger was pronounced dead on the scene and the 18-year-old was transported to a local hospital for their injuries, as well as the 12-year-old passenger, according to DPS.
Jimenez was also injured from the wreck and transported to a local hospital in Tyler.
