Former Angelina County Sheriff's Office deputy hospitalized for broken vertebrae

Ware remains in serious but stable condition and is expected to undergo surgery for his sustained injuries.

ANGELINA COUNTY, Texas — A former Angelina County Sheriff's Office deputy is hospitalized for a broken vertebrae on Wednesday night.

According to the Angelina County Sheriff's Office, former deputy Randy Ware sustained major injuries resulting from a fall while playing pickleball at a local recreation center.

Ware's injuries were so severe that it broke his vertebrae in his neck. 

He currently remains hospitalized in "serious but stable condition" and is expected to undergo surgery for his injuries.

Ware has served the public for almost four decades in law enforcement and currently remains as a reserve deputy despite retiring from full-service.

"Randy's family sends their thanks for all his friend's concerns and prayers," the Facebook post said.
