Grapeland Peanut Festival happening this weekend

On Saturday, the city will host a parade featuring horses, old tractors, antique cars and, of course, the Peanut Queen.

GRAPELAND, Texas — Residents in Grapeland are set for Houston County's biggest and one of its oldest events!

The 74th Annual Grapeland Peanut Festival will kickoff Thursday, Oct. 17 and will run through Sat. Oct 19.

The festival features delicious fair food, carnival rides and an arts and crafts sale.

On Saturday, the city will host a parade featuring horses, old tractors, antique cars and, of course, the Peanut Queen.

Later that night, the festival will host a pageant to crown the new Peanut Queen.

The Grapeland Peanut Festival began in 1945 to celebrate the ending of World War II. Since then, it has grown into one of the premiere fall events in the area.
