Man trapped inside upside-down vehicle after wreck in Deep East Texas rescued

Once removed from the car, the man was taken to a local hospital for further medical treatment.

HUDSON, Texas — East Texas firefighters rescued a man trapped inside an upside-down vehicle after a crash in Hudson Thursday evening.

According to the Hudson Fire Department, the crash happened around 6:15 p.m. on Highway 94 near Subway. Hudson firefighters extricated the man from the vehicle that was upside down following the wreck. Once removed from the car, the man was taken to a local hospital for further medical treatment.

Near the scene, crews found a woman, who was not in the crash, having a seizure. Paramedics and EMTs started medical treatment and she was later taken to the hospital, the Hudson Fire said.

Firefighters then responded to a second call for service at Lucky’s gas station on Highway 94, where an employee smelled the strong odor of gas inside the store. Three members of the crew broke off from the crash response and found a small gas leak coming from the stove in the kitchen, HFD said.

Hudson Fire said the gas was shut off and crews found no other hazards. The Angelina County Sheriff's Office and the Hudson Police Department assisted with traffic control.
