OFFICIALS: Sister of Upshur County double-murder suspect arrested for helping him escape

Officials believe Laquesha assisted Alvin in escaping from the Upshur County area on the night of the murders.

UPSHUR COUNTY, Texas — The Upshur County Sheriff's Office has arrested the sister of the double-murder suspect for allegedly helping her brother escape after killing two women on Nov. 4.

Laquesha Monique McKnight, 38, of Longview is the sister of Alvin McKnight Jr. who is wanted for murdering Mandy Ray, 35, of Gilmer and Dermetrica Dashaunda Waters, 37, of Gilmer.

Officials believe Laquesha assisted Alvin in escaping from the Upshur County area on the night of the murders. Once confronted by police with evidence, Laquesha reportedly did not want to cooperate further.

Laquesha is currently booked into the Upshur County Jail and has a bond set at $500,000, according to a press release.

Officials believe there are other people, including family and friends, who have assisted McKnight in his escape.
