Pittsburg ISD to hold $93.8 million bond election in May to fund new high school, other projects

Early voting for the election starts April 22 and ends April 30, and Election Day voting will be Saturday, May 4.

PITTSBURG, Texas — Pittsburg ISD will hold a $93.8 million bond election on May 4 in hopes of funding a new high school and other projects.

According to the school district, the bond is broken up into two propositions. Proposition A is for $74.4 million and would fund a new high school, safety and security and a bus road. Proposition B is for $19.4 million and it would fund junior high additions and renovations as well as safety and security.

The PISD Board of Trustees approved calling the election after a facilities planning committee, including more than 20 Pittsburg ISD community members, made the proposal with the staff and administration. The district said the process began in 2022.

Funding for renovating or building new schools must come from school bond elections, Pittsburg ISD said.

If voters approve the total $93.8 million for both Proposition A and B in May, the school district said the estimated impact would be $20.78 per month for a home valued at $99,763 (after applying the $100,000 homestead exemption). The $199,763 number is the average market value for a home in Pittsburg ISD.

Early voting for the election starts April 22 and ends April 30, and Election Day voting will be Saturday, May 4.
