NACOGDOCHES, Texas — A Nacogdoches woman is behind bars accused of murder.
According to the Nacodoches Police Department, around 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, officers responded to reports of a man lying in the roadway in the 2200 block of Pearl Street.
Police determined the victim, identified as Curtis Washington, 51, did not appear to have been hit by a vehicle, but was suffering from what was believed to be a puncture wound to the chest.
During the course of the investigation, police concluded the puncture was a stab wound.
Washington was rushed to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Officers located the suspect, still on scene, and identified her as Milanikii Ybarra, 29. Ybarra and Washington lived together, but officers do not believe the pair was in a relationship.
Ybarra was booked into Nacogdoches County Jail on one count of murder.
An autopsy was ordered and the investigation is ongoing.
