Male student athletes from around Smith County came together this morning at Robert E. Lee High School to learn about the role they can play in ending sexual violence.
Jeremy Hardy with “Men Can Stop Rape” explained how to spot and interrupt behaviors that support sexual violence, even among friends.
Lessons Robert E. Lee High School basketball coach Allen Simmons said are great to learn at their age.
“They can use it now and obviously build on it and use it as they get older,” Simmons said.
Students also learned that sexual violence is an issue men should care about just as much as women because men are survivors of sexual violence and know potential abusers.
