SWEPCO announces expected power restoration times

The company says Longview was the hardest hit area they cover. Full restoration could take several days.

LONGVIEW, Texas — SWEPCO is continuing to work to restore power after a widespread outage spanning the Ark-La-Tex region.

According to the company, as many as 38,800 customers are without power in the company. Of that number, more than 23,600 customers are in Texas.

SWEPCO says Wednesday storms caused significant damage to their infrastructure including broken poles and downed wires.

SWEPCO has released the following schedule for restoration of power for Longview customers:

  • Carthage – Noon, Saturday 
  • Gilmer - Noon, Saturday
  • Gladewater – Noon, Sunday
  • Henderson – Noon, Friday 
  • Kilgore – Noon, Saturday
  • Longview – 10 p.m., Monday
  • Marshall – Noon Saturday 
  • Mineola – 10 p.m., Saturday

SWEPCO urges residents to not stop crews as it will slow down the process, instead asking for patience. 

SWEPCO also urges residents to not approach downed power lines.
