SPCA of East Texas offers unique foster opportunity ahead of Super Bowl

If you're a Chiefs fan you’re in luck because a few kittens at the SPCA of East Texas are rocking some of the team's well known names!

TYLER, Texas — Can you feel the anticipation in the air? We are just days away from Super Bowl Sunday and even the SPCA of East Texas is joining in on the fun!

"We still have here waiting for a foster and or an adopter Mahomes, and Pacheco, and Kelcee," SPCA East Texas Executive Director Kat Cortelyou said.

If you're a Chiefs fan you’re in luck because a few kittens at the SPCA of East Texas are rocking some of the team's well known names!

"We ended up taking them in about a week ago, and we gave them the coolest names ever, after the Chiefs," SPCA of East Texas Cat Adoption Coordinator Megan Rishel said.

With the Super Bowl just days away, volunteers at the SPCA of East Texas believe these names will help draw attention not only to cats, but all the animals in need of forever families.

"I think yesterday I got about 20 plus phone calls to rehome cats and kittens. At some point we have to stop and we have to try to adopt out what we have. We could take in more if we had more fosters but we just don't have any more places to put them, but the calls don't stop," Rishel said.

If you’re debating on adding one of these star players to your home team, try fostering!

This opportunity gives you enough time to see if you're the right fit, while also helping the shelter free up kennels to take in more animals.

"All you do is take the animal home with you! We provide you with food, we provide you with vetting, we give you all the supplies and you just provide a nice safe warm place and love until we can find a permanent home for the animal," Cortelyou said.

If you’re looking for someone to watch the game with this weekend, you know just where to find the perfect watch party plus-one!
