Roads closed, bus stops rerouted in downtown Tyler ahead of Red Dirt BBQ & Music Festival

The City of Tyler has announced road closures and rerouted bus stops due to the Red Dirt BBQ and Music Festival starting on Friday, May 3.

TYLER, Texas — The City of Tyler has announced road closures and rerouted bus stops due to the Red Dirt BBQ and Music Festival starting on Friday, May 3.

The festival happens Saturday, but preparations kick off Friday morning. 

Road Closures

Broadway Ave. from Erwin Street to Ferguson Street and the left turn lane for the East Ferguson Street and Broadway Avenue intersection will close at 10 a.m.

Starting at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, May 3, portions of North College Ave., Ferguson Street, West Erwin Street, and  Broadway Ave. near the downtown Tyler square and Smith County Courthouse will be closed.

Parking spaces around the square will be blocked of starting at 6 a.m. and other downtown spots will close at 1:30 p.m.

The City of Tyler says all roads will reopen on Sunday, May 5.

Bus Routes

Tyler Transit will deviate Route 10 and Route 14 starting Friday, May 3 through Sunday, May 5. Routes will return to normal on Monday, May 6. 

Changes to the routes during this time are: 

Closed Bus Stops
Stop 106 – Broadway Avenue and Elm Street (Northbound) 
Stop 107 – Broadway Avenue and Ferguson Street (Northbound) 
Stop 135 – Broadway Avenue and Ferguson Street (Southbound) 
Stop 136 – Broadway Avenue and Elm Street (Southbound) 
Stop 148 – Ferguson Street and Bois D'Arc Avenue (both directions)

Alternate Bus Stops
Stop TY 137 – Broadway Avenue and Front Street
Main Transfer Point – 210 E. Oakwood St. 

According to the press release, signs announcing the closure and alternate stops have been placed at the affected bus stops.
