WHITEHOUSE, Texas — The City of Whitehouse selected Tyler Police Lt. Paul Robeson as their new Police Chief. He will begin his duties as police chief on Dec. 2.

“The City of Whitehouse is looking forward to welcoming Chief Robeson to our community,” Mayor Charles Parker said in statement. “We believe his leadership will bring insight to our Police force that is needed to uphold the standards our department strives to hold: integrity, transparency and a renewed sense of engagement and commitment to our community.”

Chief Robeson joined the Tyler Police Department in 2002. He rose from a patrol officer and traffic officer to an investigator. He also served as a field training officer, advanced accident investigator, intermediate crime scene officer, TCOLE instructor and an honor guard officer.

In 2011, he was promoted to sergeant. As a sergeant, he worked on patrol, as a training supervisor and an honor guard sergeant. He later worked on financial and youth crime investigations.

In 2016, Robeson was promoted to lieutenant, where he supervised the community response unit, investigations, patrol and honor guard.

“I look forward to leading the Whitehouse Police Department,” Chief Robeson said. “My goal is to continue building a strong relationship between the police department and its community by bringing a refreshing, professional approach to the leadership of the department.”

Chief Robeson holds a Master Peace Officer License.

Robeson received a number of awards including Rookie of the Year, Supervisor of the Year and a life-saving award for saving the life of a child. Units under his supervision twice received the Unit of the Year award.

Within the community, Robeson has been recognized for volunteer work and community service.

“We are proud of the dedication Lt. Robeson has given the City of Tyler and its residents,” Tyler Police Chief Jimmy Toler said in a statement. “He will be missed at Tyler PD, but we look forward to watching him serve our neighboring community of Whitehouse.”
