TYLER, Texas — UT Health East Texas Physicians will be accepting appointments via FaceTime through telehealth.

UT Health East Texas launched the program to allow patients to have easier access to their physicians. UT Health East Texas Physicians CEO G. Todd Hill says the new service will especially help during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“At our clinics across the region, the health of our patients, their families and our caregivers is our top priority,” Hill said in a statement. “We know that despite the COVID-19 outbreak, many of our patients have ongoing medical needs, as well as the need for routine care."

According to UT Health East Texas Physicians, patients must already be established with their doctor and must schedule FaceTime visits with the physician.

New patients may use telehealth if they need care for an acute illness.

Patients can make appointments by calling 903-596-DOCS. Established patients may also schedule an appoint using the patient portal. Insurance will be billed as usual.

“We are encouraging our patients to keep their appointments and are following CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) guidelines in order to keep our clinics safe and healthy,” Hill said. “However, we understand the apprehension some may feel about visiting a clinic at this time, especially those in higher risk categories. That’s why we’ve added telehealth options.”
