KILGORE, Texas —
Power lines and trees were scattered throughout the streets of Kilgore on Thursday morning.
“We’ve never had damage like this,” Haley Thomas, a Kilgore resident whose vehicle was destroyed by the storm, said.
Her husband’s truck was crushed underneath a tree branch when straight-line winds rolled through the area.
“We heard the storm earlier about ten minutes later he was getting up getting ready to go to work, and he went outside and there was a tree,” Thomas said.
Although their truck had was demolished by the branch, their home on Emmon Street was not damaged.
The roadway that saw a large amount of damage was Bean Avenue.
“It’s going to take a while to rebuild,” James Adams said, who was helping clean up his brother’s home.
Dalton Cole’s house was hit by a tree branch overnight.
“I’ve seen a couple thunderstorms, but never have I seen a tree come down,” Cole said.
His house, located beside his mother's home, was remodeled less than six months ago.
“I was up late and I told my friends about 3:00 a.m., I was going to go to bed and the power went off,” Cole said. “I went to look out the front door to see what was happening, the next thing I know there’s a tree in my house.”
