REPORT: Legendary Alabama head football coach Nick Saban retiring

ESPN reports the seven-time national championship-winning coach is calling it a career after nearly 50 years in the business.

ALABAMA, USA — Legendary college football coach Nick Saban is retiring, according to ESPN.

ESPN reports the seven-time national championship-winning coach is calling it a career after nearly 50 years in the business.

Saban recently led the Alabama Crimson Tide to the College Football Playoff Final 4. The Tide lost to Michigan who went on to win the title. 

While at Alabama, Saban won six national championships in 17 seasons. He also won one at LSU. 

At Tuscaloosa, he compiled a 201-29 record, sent 123 players to the NFL Draft, won 10 division titles, and nine SEC championships and produced four Heisman Trophy winners.

The 72-year-old West Virginia native also saw stints at the following schools:

  • Kent State
  • Syracuse
  • West Virginia
  • Ohio State
  • Navy
  • Michigan State
  • Toldeo

Saban also coached in the NFL, serving as the defensive backs coach for the Houston Oilers, the defensive coordinator for the Cleveland Browns and the head coach of the Miami Dolphins.
