TYLER, Texas — We have talked through the 15 apps you should be aware of on your kids' phones. There are certainly things to be aware of with each of the apps, but it is not all doom and gloom.
One of TikTok's most popular channels is run by Maverick and Cash Baker.
They are from Oklahoma and they have over 6.3 million followers on their joint account "Cash and Maverick." In fact, between the family of siblings Maverick, Cash and sister Lonnie, they have 31 million followers on their individual channels.
You may have also heard of "Old Town Road" by Lil Nas X. What you may not know is a lot of the buzz around the song started on TickTok. After quick search through the app, you will find endless videos of people coming up with creative dances all to the tune of the popular song.
On YouTube, "Ryan's World" is a popular channel that has over 23.8 million subscribers.
Ryan is eight years old, and he posts a number of videos, from toy unboxings and fun experiments to how-to videos. It is reported that from June of 2017 to June of 2018, Ryan made $22 million from his YouTube channel.
Families are even getting into the fun together. The Holderness family on YouTube gets the whole family involved for their video parodies of popular songs.
There are apps out there that you should keep an eye on. Talk to your kids when you can and explain to them how to stay safe online and on apps.
Make sure they turn off location-based services and avoid sharing personal information. Use Google for Families, Apple ScreenTime or even third party tools.
If you are worried about that, but take a look at some of the creativity that comes out of the apps, the power today's technology and keep that in mind as well.
