2 injured after officer-involved crash in Gregg County

Officials said a Gregg County sheriff deputy was involved in a wreck with a Ford Expedition on the intersection of US 259 and Hamby Road, just outside of Longview.

GREGG COUNTY, Texas — Two people were injured after an officer-involved wreck in Gregg County Tuesday afternoon.

According to Texas Department of Public Safety spokesperson Adam Albritton, a Gregg County sheriff deputy was involved in a wreck with a Ford Expedition on the intersection of US 259 and Hamby Road, just outside of Longview.

Albritton said the deputy was not en route to an emergency when the crash happened.

The deputy and the driver of the Expedition were taken to a Longview hospital with injuries, Albritton said.

The roadway is cleared and has reopened, Albritton said. DPS is continuing to investigate the crash.
