Tyler woman looks to return long-lost film found at Salvation Army to family featured in photos

"Getting film developed for me is like Christmas Day because you never know what’s going to be on there," Jasmine Lewis said.

TYLER, Texas — A social media post trying to match a long-lost roll of film with its owner has gained a lot of attention online.

"Getting film developed for me is like Christmas Day because you never know what’s going to be on there," Jasmine Lewis said.

Lewis is a big-time photography enthusiast, especially when it comes to old-school film cameras. Her most recent find at the Salvation Army in Tyler though came with more than she expected.

With film left over, she had the images developed, posted them to Facebook, where they’ve caught lots of attention.

"(The discovery of the photos) made me excited and made me want to maybe reunite them with their family photos because they probably don’t know that they had film inside the camera whenever they turned it in," Lewis said.

Everyone loves to capture those family moments, like the ones featured on the film reel that was discovered. And for Lewis, her love of photography actually stems from a desire to capture those moments for her own family.

"I grew up with a lot, a lot, of family photos and it kind of just started as me wanting to get back into documenting my family. Because again, we all started taking pictures on our phone, and it’s just different to have the film, the camera in your hand, and then get the pictures developed and sit around and be able to look at them physically in your hands," Lewis said.

Anyone who recognizes these photos as their family, just come on down to Tyler and look up Lewis - she’s waiting to deliver the memories. She can be reached on Facebook  here.

"I hope you guys find these photos, and that they’re something that you can cherish, and look back on, remember the day that you guys were all around the kitchen and having fun.  And it looks like y’all were laughing and having a good time. Just remember those moments because there’s something to cherish," Lewis said.
