NACOGDOCHES, Texas — An East Texas man has been indicted for the murder of his girlfriend and her mother.
According to the Nacogdoches Police Department, on Oct. 28, 2023, around 4 p.m., officers were called to 128 S. Stone St. for a welfare check. Upon arrival, officials found the bodies of two women at the residence who had died from apparent gunshot wounds.
The women were identified as Laura Jean Sanford and her daughter, Laquice Sanford.
On March 9, Laquice Sanford's boyfriend, identified as Ronnie Jernigan Jr., 41, of Nacogdoches, was booked into the Nacogdoches County Jail for capital murder. He was also recently indicted for the crime.
"The Nacogdoches Police Department asks the community to keep the family and friends of the victims in your thoughts and prayers," police said.
