VAN, Texas — A former East Texas police officer has been indicted on a charge of official oppression.

Santos Rodriguez, who was a Van Police Department officer, was indicted in Van Zandt County on one count of official oppression on Dec. 15, according to the police department.

In a Facebook post, Van police said Chief Melissa Davis received information on July 10 this year regarding the alleged conduct of Rodriguez. After information was gathered about the alleged incident, Davis confronted Rodriguez and he immediately resigned.

The person who complained against Rodriguez asked that his punishment be minimal. However, the information was turned over to the Van Zandt County District Attorney's Office by Davis.

The investigation through the DA's Office is ongoing.

CBS19 is working to gather more information about details surrounding the incident that led to Rodriguez's indictment.
