WINONA, Texas — A pedestrian is dead after an early morning crash near Winona.
Around 5:40 a.m., troopers with the Texas Department of Public Safety responded to a crash on SH 155, about three miles south of Winona.
The investigator's preliminary report indicates a pickup, driven by Mitchell Euwins, 37, of Longview, was traveling on SH 155 and struck a pedestrian who was walking in the roadway.
The driver of the pickup was identified as Mitchell Euwins, 37, of Longview, was not injured in the crash.
The pedestrian was identified as Stephan Ernest Nipper, 41, of Muncie, Indiana. He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was taken to a local funeral home.
The crash remains under investigation.
