1 woman killed after Tyler house fire near Caldwell Zoo

The cause of the fire is still under investigation

TYLER, Texas — A woman is dead following a Tuesday morning house fire in Tyler.

According to the City of Tyler Fire Department, crews were called to the 1700 block of W. Mims St., just after 9:50 a.m. Tuesday, on reports of a structure fire.

Officials said Mynetta Gilstrap, 68, died after being transported to the hospital following the fire. Officials were called after flames were visible from the front of the home. Firefighters arrived at the scene and began searching the structure when they located Gilstrap and a dead dog.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation and CBS19 will update this article as more information becomes available.
