Skip Ogle to challenge Matt Schaefer for Texas House seat

Republican Skip Ogle announced his campaign for Texas House District 6 Tuesday during an event at Stephenson's Pharmacy.

Republican Skip Ogle announced his campaign for Texas House District 6 Tuesday during an event at Stephenson's Pharmacy.

Ogle began his speech with gratitude for the people who were gathered, saying they and others were the reason he decided to go into politics and attempt to affect change in Austin.

"We can't just put band-aids on issues for the next biennium, for the next two years, until those solutions come back at us again," Ogle said. "We have to fight for the next generation."

Ogle's focus is on small businesses and decreasing the amount of regulation they deal with.

"People are moving here from across the nation because employment is here in Texas," he said. "We need to continue that. We need to keep fighting, keep fighting government overreach. We need to keep fighting burdensome regulations."

Ogle owns a local home construction company and is the spokesperson for Suddenlink Communications.

Republican incumbent Matt Schaefer announced his run for re-election last week. He was unavailable for comment Tuesday.
