ATHENS, Texas — Two people, including an East Texas private Christian school teacher, died Tuesday night in Henderson County after a three-vehicle wreck on State Highway 19 east of Athens.

Dylan Wade Taylor, 44, of Athens, was driving south on State Highway 19, while Glenn Eric Davisson, 60, of Thornton, was driving north on the same highway, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Davisson failed to drive in a single lane and went into the southbound lane, where his vehicle struck Taylor's vehicle, DPS said.

A third vehicle, which was driven by Charles Stephen Holden, 79, of Euless, was traveling south on Highway 19 and collided with the other two vehicles, according to DPS.

Both Taylor and Davisson were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, DPS said.

Athens Christian Preparatory Academy said in a Facebook that Taylor was a beloved teacher at the school and he died in a head-on crash.

"This is a devastating blow to our team at ACPA.," the school's Facebook post said.

School was canceled Wednesday and counseling has been made available for students, staff and faculty,

Services for Taylor will be held next week on April 26 at 11 a.m. at Eastern Hills Church of Christ, located at 1200 E. Corsicana St. in Athens. A reception will be held after the service.

Holden was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

According to officials, the investigation is ongoing and further information is not yet available.
