CBS19 WEATHER: Scattered showers possible today

Check out the latest forecast from the CBS19 Weather Experts.

TYLER, Texas — Good morning East Texas,

Torrential rainfall was dumped on parts of East Texas yesterday.  This caused impactful flooding from Deep East Texas to the Gulf Coast.  Several bodies of water, including parts of the Sabine River and the Neches River, are under flood warnings.  Make sure to keep your eyes peeled for standing water, as it is never safe to drive into a flooded area.  And even more rain is on the way.  Rain chances are in the forecast over the next seven days.

Here's your forecast:

TODAY:

Rain and thunderstorms are marching through deep East Texas in the pre-dawn hours.  Most of the storms will filter out through the morning. But, a few isolated thunderstorms could pop up in the afternoon, so it would be a good idea to keep your raincoat handy.

THE WEEKEND:

The long awaited weekend is almost here!  But we do have another round of showers coming through.   Make sure to take your rain gear if you're going to the Red Dirt Music festival, because rain is coming on Saturday.  But don't put away your umbrella for Sunday, because another round of showers and thunderstorms is in the forecast.  Both Saturday and Sunday are under a level 1 out of 5 risk of strong storms.  Right now, it looks like we will see some strong thunderstorms, but keep checking back with CBS19 for the latest updates.
